Hey Everyone,
Hope everything is right in your world this morning, I am so glad the sun is shining and the trees have a tinge of green. Spring is my favorite time of year, and so I have been a happy camper lately. The night the time changes is my favorite day of the year!
Things at the shop are finally getting back in shape. The computer crash of 08 is officially behind us, our taxes have been completed, I have finished all of the paperwork for Ryan’s college applications, and my brain seems to be coming out of the fog it has been in.
I am calling the last 7 months My Dark Period. It feels good to just knit.
Speaking of knitting…
I have been working on the same sweater now for WAY too long…..I really love the yarn, and the pattern is really easy to follow…but need some closure on this one…am on the last sleeve, and then there is sewing together (thank goodness for Jeanene!), and picking up stitches for the collar…blah, blah…(the sweater is in Knit 2 Together, it’s the brown one with the ruching around the top and bottom).
Also now that it is Spring, I realized that 2 of Ryan’s friends that I adore are going to colleges in the cold …so I am making 2 scarves, 1 boy, 1 girl. I have found a great pattern to use for both….Mistake Rib…(multiple of 4 +1, K2, P2 every row), and it is coming out great. The scarves are completely different yarns, and both look great. I have never knitted with Mission Falls 1824 wool before, and I must say…LOVE IT!
But the cutest thing so far is Hugh..my darling knitted chicken…Sheila finished him off with his new glasses…and he sits on the counter…so cute!
The newest of the new yarns in the shop came on Friday…JoJo Land…we got a superwash fingering weight…and a laceweight…and pattern support for both…nice colors, and the price is nice. $6.50 per ball of fingering (230 ish yds) and $9.50 for the laceweight….(yardage..not sure, but a bunch)…best news is NO WINDING…..it is nice…
Sandy is working on a e-mail format for our very first e-newsletter…we may finally be getting into the swing…:)…I think there will be a place to sign up for it on the website…will keep you posted!
Well, I think I’ve blabbed enough….need to work on that sweater…
Happy Day,
Carol

Hey Everyone,
I am sorry this has taken me so long to write, but my home computer shot craps and has been in the computer hospital for a couple of weeks. I hope that you are healthy, happy and knitting like mad.
I want to thank those of you that got up early and came to the “We hate February sale”! It was quite an experience. I thought it worked very well even though it was our first run at this. We plan to do the same next year….maybe 5 a.m.??!!
With the sale over, we have had lots, and I mean LOTS of new spring and summer yarns coming in the back door. It is so nice to see spring colors, and glorious fibers in the shop again. Rowan has come out with a new yarn…Lenpur…a mixture of linen and viscose…the color palate is incredible! also LOTS of cottons in various weights….new books galore, and patterns as well. Also if you haven’t picked up your copy of the new Debbie Bliss magazine, I would highly recommend it. Supplies are limited though…
Plymouth is on the Noro trail with their new line for spring….a cotton, silk blend that will rival the big guy, and for only 1/2 the price…also a lovely wool silk 491 yards for $30…I look for a silk garden, kureyon rival in the Fall…
Everything on the Partch homefront is quiet though, still waiting for my precious bundle of joy to choose a college….about 74 days until graduation…sigh….
Hope everyone has a peaceful weekend…..
Carol

Hey Everyone and Happy Thursday,
After 2 days at home watching the snow and ice fall, I will be making the trek back to work today. The shop will be open regular hours, 10-6 for today. Reminder that tomorrow night is still the Knit-In from 6-10 pm. It will be nice to see some women …I live with 2 men, and talk about girl-stuff.
I don’t know about you, but my heart freezes up when I see the pics from Harrison, with the ice storm. I didn’t realize how many feelings would come out seeing that damage. I don’t think I will ever be the same…13 days no power…
Anyhoo….
I actually knit enough that I put it down…I know…can you believe it…I actually read …and not about yarn..!
Come out and brave the roads….
See you soon,

Hey Fiber Friends,
I know, I know….pick yourselves up off the floor….I am actually on the computer writing to you…
Really, I’m going to try to be much better this year at corresponding. Maybe nothing will break down at the shop, and I will become a better human, and blogger.
Happy New Year everyone, and I hope this finds you all well, and still knitting like fiends.
I can’t believe that 2008 is coming to such a rapid close…it flew by…with soccer tournaments, and Maddi’s wedding, and just working….
Just before I forget …..the next Knit-In is the last Friday night in January…and soon …very soon…I will have some very interesting news about the month we refer to as “We Hate February”…so keep checking back…..
We have been extremely lucky this season, that even with the economic slowdown, we have still had people coming in. We purchased yarn for the more “budget minded” knitter this year and have been pleased with the results. Sock yarn is still overflowing…as there are so many choices, and all of the yarn companies have jumped on the “sock wagon”.
I personally am knitting with a new yarn from Cascade called Rustic. It is a linen/wool blend that is just dreamy…am making a throw for my house. I am also making a sweater from the Knit 2 Together book with Rowan Wool/cotton….I am done with the back, and have 1/2 of the left front. It is fun…. I also knit a sweater from the new Debbie Bliss magazine, out of Cascade Venezia a blend of merino/silk….best thing I have ever made…
Well, Happy New Year again, and thank you for knitting…it makes my heart happy!
love , Carol

Hey Everyone and Happy January!
Man, it’s yuckko outside, but just remember almost this time last year…ice…..
I hope everyone had a healthy and happy Christmas, and a warm and fuzzy New Year!
We spent the week after Christmas in Orlando watching Ryan (the 17 yr. old) play in a soccer tournament at the Disney Wide World of Sports Complex. It was super fun…the weather was good (no, great!) the soccer was great ( they came in 3rd in their bracket), and the weather was GREAT! ( Oops, I already mentioned that) :-).
Having a vacation made me open my eyes and look around the shop when I returned. Henceforth, things have been moved, and swept, and fluffed up around there.
We had just about sold out of our new funky Ozark Handspun yarn, but a quick call to Terry, and things have been restored. It’s fun and different, and looks great in hats, or as a border, or trim. Meredith M. made a cute poncho with it as a border. The pattern and the poncho are on display.
Scarves are big stuff again, got some new books with hats, scarves, and shawls.
Classic Elite is the yarn of the month for January. 25% off all in stock .
I have inadvertently mis-told people that the January Knit-In is Friday January 25th. Actually it is next Friday the 18th. I am so sorry for the confusion. Hope to see you there.
It has been good to see some faces that haven’t been in in awhile.
The newest new find are Carpet Bags … big tapestry bags with leather handles…they make my mouth water…..
Thank you for your support in 2007, and hope to see you knitting in 2008,
Love to all,
Carol

Hey Everyone,
Happy November to you all. The weather has been beautiful, and I have been loving the windy days!
I must give snaps to Sandy for her hard work and dedication to this website. Thank you to all of the happy knitters that compliment her hard work to me each week. It is looking so darn professional, and has great information about the shop.
All of our new yarns are here and have nestled into their new homes and are anxiously awaiting your arrival.
The new hot things to knit for winter are classic sweaters, funky scarves, hats, and shawls.
Wonderful soft buttery yarns make knitting these things joyous and fun.
Gone are the days of eyelash, and furz, but adding those elements to scarves, and hat trim, are making a comeback. Thinking outside the box is what makes each item so unique.

I wanted to thank all who attended our first knit-in. We had several newbies, and we gave each of them a small token of our appreciation for coming. Also the sale of the knit-in was sock yarn..(I had a weak moment…):-) I hope the yarn gets knit quickly and starts warming someone’s feet soon. Our next knit-in is Friday December 8th from 6-10. Hope to see you there!

On a very sad note….Tammy lost her beloved Big Truvvy a few days ago. My heart goes out to her.
Now for a happy note…Our Maddi is engaged! She is marrying Josh in late May, and we will keep you posted on her happy planning!
Everyone have a safe and happy holiday…knit fast….buy more yarn!
Thanks to all who come in each week,
Carol

Hi all. Just thought I would drop in and say hello! Hello! I’ve been hidden away working on www.simplyfibers.com…. and of course, the regular J-O-B has been keeping me hopping. I miss the store and the yarn and you guys.

I hope you like the new fall yarns… even though it doesn’t really feel like fall yet. This year, you are seeing them before I do. Oh, I get to see the two inch sample and hear the sales pitch from the yarn reps but until you see it in the skein, it’s just not real. They walk away and leave me with a carbon copy of the order sheet… absolutely no instant gratification there.

Anyway, I don’t know if you have perused the web site or not but I know lots of you have been checking it out. I hope it’s coming along to your satisfaction. I working to get all of the yarn in the store available on the web. We’re getting there but I’m about 4000 items behind right now.. whew!

In the meantime, I know Carol is busy finding the perfect home for every last little skein of yarn. She has a been blessed with a definite talent for merchandising things. I am amazed every time I set foot in the store. How does she do that? If it were just me, we would have boring shelves with everything against the wall and probably not a lot of atmosphere. Now you get the best of both worlds… well, lots of work still left on the web site but the store looks great.

Better go for now. Keep checking back in with us. I’ll keep working on the web site and if you can think of something fun you would like to see there… or a charity site… or a pattern you would like to share with the world… or a tip, let me know and I’ll do my best to get it out there for the world to see.

Talk to you soon. Thanks for stopping in.

Have a great day,

Sandy

Hey Everyone,

Happy August…I can’t believe how fast the Summer has gone. Ryan ( the 16 yr. old) has been gone all Summer…travelling here and there, so it’s almost like Alan ( the husband)and I are empty nesters. Oddly, not bad…:-)

So…Fall is just around the corner, and I have been busy moving things around ( much to the dismay of some), and am making room for the new stuff. We have already gotten some FABULOUS new sock yarn from Claudia Handpaints. Some of the most goodest stuff we’ve ever had. We should be fully stocked for Fall within a few more weeks, so remember, Christmas is really just around the corner.

We have also gotten in some yarn from Crystal Palace that is a corn fiber, for all of you who don’t wear wool. I have personally pulled and tugged on this yarn to ensure that it doesn’t break like I have heard that some corn fiber has done with other companies. There are 31 different colors to choose from.

We have been working hard to get a new fresh hip class schedule for the Fall. Classes besides knitting will be held, and I have found a new teacher to teach socks on 2 circulars. Please look for the list to be posted by August 15. All of the Winter extra’s will be posted also, so mark those dates on your calendars. We will be doing a few new things on different nights this Winter, to spice things up a bit!

Maddi is back from her travels to Africa, and has some great pic’s…I’m truly lucky to have her with me. Kelle is the other youg’un to help in the shop this year. She is the most enthusiastic kid I know…so busy trying new things!

Well, it’s time to hit Curves…ate too much this weekend…:-)

Stop by to visit, or sit awhile…we have lots of room, and are always looking for new stories!

have a great Monday,

Happy Father’s Day, hope all of your men are out doing other stuff, and you are home knitting!

Well we are home from market, and a good time was had by all! (Jill snores like a freight train:-))

We found some lovely treasures in Columbus, and I have made a bulletin board of some of the things that will be arriving in the late Summer, early Fall. Come by to check it out!

I want to explain our lack of classes in the Spring and Summer. The first year we were open, we scheduled lots of classes for the Summer. I know people are interested in knitting in the Summer, especially teachers, but we didn’t have any attendance. It’s hard to commit to 3 weekends to a sock class, when there are only 12 weekends of Summer, and the lake, weddings, reunions, baseball tournaments, etc., take up so many. So I want to extend the information, that if anyone wants a class this Summer, just call the shop, and we can arrange it for you. If there are several people in your office, or workplace that want to learn something special, we can do that , too. Just call and we’ll arrange a time that works for us all. 417-881-9276 (YARN).

The most interesting thing happened yesterday.

We opened at 10 a.m. Let me say that I knew we had people that research the shop on-line and plan to stop by on their way to wherever they are headed. Whether it be Branson, or wherever, but yesterday was even amazing to me.

Back to the story. As I said, we opened at 10. Several different groups of folks came in from 10 to 11:37a.m. I started visiting with them( imagine that), and found the following cool information.

In this 1 hour 37 minutes, people from these places were in the shop:

Portland Oregon

Columbus Ohio

Chicago

Las Vegas

Monterey CA

Arkansas

St. Louis

Isn’t that amazing???!! In OUR little corner of the globe! The Internet is such an amazing source of information…and of course the Springfield, MO phone book!

So, to make a long story shortish…everyone I met was fun and happy! I hope their travels continue to be safe and happy!

anyhoo, come see me,

and as always, thanks for spending your hard earned money with us!
